Abstract

Concrete is a material made from a mixture of cement, water and aggregates which are mixed and hardened into a monolithic mass. The strength of the concrete one of them is stated by the compressive test whose magnitude is influenced by the quality of the constituent material, the composition of the mixture and the method of the process. To determine the composition of the mixture, one important factor that determines is the physical properties of aggregates (gravel and sand). In this research, physical properties of various fine aggregates and various combinations of sand provided on Bengkalis Island consist of Bangkinang sand, Dumai sand and Tanjung Balai sand to be used as concrete mixtures with a target compressive strength of fc'14.5, 21.7 and 26.4 Mpa with mix design according to SNI 2834-2000 and for determining the percentage of combination refers to the gradation zone between two and three types of sand which in this case zone gradation 3. The result shows that the sand used meets the requirements for the concrete mixture. The compressive strength of concrete that can achieve the requirements is the aggregate combination of dumai-moro and kampar-moro sand at fc'14.5 Mpa, a combination of Balai-Kampar and Balai-Dumai for concrete fc '21.5 Mpa.
