Faktor Peminatan Program Studi Di Jurusan Kemaritiman Pada Penerimaan Taruna/I Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis Dengan Menggunakan Perhitungan Naïve Bayes

Abstract

Every university, especially state universities, certainly hopes to produce quality and competitive graduates. However, in producing quality graduates, of course, it cannot be separated from the input of prospective students in the new student admission process. The Maritime Department of Bengkalis State Polytechnic is one of the state universities located in Bengkalis City. Currently, the maritime department of Bengkalis State Polytechnic has 2 study programs, namely D3 Nautical and D3 Merchant Shipping Management. From this, it is hoped that it can provide an overview of the distribution of the origin of students who choose the D3 nautical and D3 merchant shipping management study programs, then from the distribution data a model will be made that will be able to predict the interest in study programs in the admission of new students in the next wave. The model used in this study is Naïve Bayes. The results of the research and testing that have been carried out show that the naïve bayes algorithm can predict the interest in the D3 nautical and merchant shipping management study programs in the admission of new students in the Maritime Department of Bengkalis State Polytechnic with an accuracy level of 54%. The factors that cause the tendency of students' interest in the D3 nautical study program and D3 merchant shipping management in the maritime department of the Bengkalis State Polytechnic are still dominated by the choice of location or the distance of the campus to the school of origin or place of residence by high school students and equivalent who are in the Bengkalis Regency area and those interested in the Maritime Department are also still dominated by students in Riau province.
